The now 22-year old Tippi Degre spent her childhood in Namibia by using wild animals and tribes.
During her stay in Namibia, she became friends with wild animals, including the 28 year old elephant Abu, a leopard nicknamed J & B, crocodiles, lions, giraffes, frogs and chameleons.
She also became friends with the Himba and Bushmen from the Kalahari, who taught her how she could live on plants and berries and how they could speak their language.
Tippi later moved with her parents to Madagascar and then to France, where she became a celebrity. About her adventures was a book: Tippi of Africa .
She returned to Africa to a number of nature documentaries for Discovery Channel. When she lived in France Tippi was homeschooled, because she says she had little in common with the other students in Paris.
"They moved into the mental condition of these animals," said her mother. "They believed the animals were her friend. They believed that they were as big as her. She used her imagination to under different conditions to live. "
Tippi has always said that she had a gift to the thoughts of the animals to read, says her mother. Thus, she was accepted as a part of the herd. She was not afraid of the wild animals. She just looked them in the eyes and spoke to them as if they were people.
